As the chiropractic profession engaged in the pursuit of improving health through chiropractic adjustments to the musculoskeletal system with the intention of taking pressure off of the nervous system, individual practitioners proposed and developed proprietary techniques and methods. Many different approaches remain in chiropractic practice today.   Not all of them involve HVLA thrust manipulation.

  • Toggle Drop – this is when the chiropractor, using crossed hands, presses down firmly on a particular area of the spine. Then, with a quick and precise thrust, the chiropractor adjusts the spine. The purpose of the adjustment is to improve mobility in the vertebral joints.
  • Lumbar Roll (aka side posture) – the chiropractor positions the patient on his or her side, then applies a quick and precise manipulative thrust to the misaligned lumbar vertebra, returning it to its proper position.
  • Release Work – gentle pressure using fingertips to separate the vertebrae (bones of the spine).
  • Drop-Table adjustments – The patient lies on a special table with sections that drop down. The chiropractor applies a quick thrust at the same time the section drops. The dropping of the table allows for a lighter adjustment without the twisting positions that can accompany other techniques.
  • Instrument adjustments – often the gentlest methods of adjusting the spine. The patient lies on the table face down while the chiropractor uses a spring-loaded activator or electrical instrument to perform the adjustment. This technique is often used to perform adjustments on animals as well.
  • Diversified technique – full-spine manipulation;  extremity adjusting, trigger point therapy, disease prevention and early screening advice.
  • Physiotherapy
  • Soft Tissue Manipulation/StretchingActivator Method
  • Physical Therapy
  • Heat Therapy (Hydrocollator Packs)
  • Cold Therapy (Cryotherapy)
  • Kinesio Taping
  • Anatomotor Intersegmental Traction

Chiropractic Care

We provide spinal correction and chiropractic adjustments utilizing "state of the art" chiropractic techniques. Never in the history of chiropractic care have chiropractors been able to provide the level of help and expertise that is available today. Many of the newest chiropractic techniques are actually safer, more comfortable and more effective than ever before. As a chiropractor who cares about utilizing the most advanced chiropractic techniques, Dr. Michael LoGiudice has years of training, expertise and experience in helping patients get pain relief for back pain, neck pain, headaches, and other related conditions originating from the spine. Chiropractic care under a trained professional can even be used to prevent injuries and help you achieve total health or wellness.

Corrective Exercises

At Linn City Chiropractic, we teach our patients how to perform special "blueprint" exercises which can help strengthen and correct the irregularities in their body which may be causing pain. Many of these corrective exercises can actually be performed in the comfort of your own home to help improve the effectiveness of your chiropractic care and spinal correction plan. In addition to skeletal misalignment, you may be experiencing pain that is caused by muscles and connective tissues which are out of their proper place. Other types of pain such as back pain, neck pain, and headaches are caused by muscles and tissues that are being used improperly, causing injuries over time. In each case, targeted corrective exercises and stretches from our experienced chiropractor will help you feel good while also helping your body achieve balance and health.

Lifestyle Advice

Many of our patients come to see our chiropractor to address a specific pain symptom such as back pain, neck pain or headaches. While our chiropractor will address each patient's specific condition with chiropractic care, we often find it helpful to "coach" our patients towards achieving a healthier lifestyle. For example, there may be certain activities that you should avoid or do differently to prevent yourself from unintentionally aggravating your particular health challenges. The goal of including lifestyle advice with a chiropractic care plan is to help each and every patient achieve the fulfilling and happy lifestyle they deserve, one that is full of the activities that are enjoyed most. We recognize that every single one of our patients is a whole person, and we use our expertise to help them reach total health and wellness.

Nutritional Counseling

What does nutrition have to do with chiropractic care? The goal of chiropractic care is to help patients achieve total health and balance with their body, and as part of that goal we provide specific recommendations on nutritional supplements and healthy food choices. Nutritional counseling by our experienced chiropractic health professionals can assist a patient on their return to optimal health. Do you know which supplements and vitamins are good for you? Do you know how these supplements and vitamins interact with one another? At our West Linn chiropractic clinic, we can provide each patient with a structured nutritional program that is based on their individual needs.

Massage Therapy

Massage therapy does more than make you feel good, it can actually help your body achieve balance and health. Massage therapy offers a natural  treatment approach which actually relieves musculoskeletal pain for many patients. Our chiropractic office provides specific massage and muscular therapy that is complimentary to their chiropractic care. Each massage therapy plan is tailored to meet the patient's unique pain condition or injury. The benefits of massage therapy may include the increase of blood circulation, a localized reduction in swelling and the relaxation of muscles. Massage has been known to relieve muscle pain and spasms, increase a patient's range of motion, while also aiding in a patient's recovery. Some investigative studies have even indicated that a single session of massage may help boost your immune system!

Spinal & Postural Screenings

There is a saying that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Your spinal health is no exception. Posture and spinal screenings by a trained and experienced chiropractor such as Dr. Michael LoGiudice can help reveal important health information, unlocking the door to improved health and well-being. In order to help the West Linn community, we provide screenings at area malls, community events, health fairs and places of employment. Contact us today at 503-908-0122 to arrange a screening at your event or workplace.

Kinesio Taping

Kinesio Taping Method: is a definitive rehabilitative taping technique that is designed to facilitate the body’s natural healing process while providing support and stability to muscles and joints without restricting the body’s range of motion as well as providing extended soft tissue manipulation to prolong the benefits of manual therapy administered within the clinical setting. Latex-free and wearable for days at a time, Kinesio RockTape® is safe for populations ranging from pediatric to geriatric, and successfully treats a variety of orthopedic, neuromuscular, neurological and other medical conditions. *The Kinesio® Taping Method is a therapeutic taping technique not only offering your patient the support they are looking for, but also rehabilitating the affected condition as well.* By targeting different receptors within the somatosensory system, Kinesio-tape alleviates pain and facilitates lymphatic drainage by microscopically lifting the skin. This lifting affect forms convolutions in the skin thus increasing interstitial space and allowing for a decrease in inflammation of the affected areas.

Graston Technique

Graston Technique® (GT): is a unique, evidence-based form of instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization that enables clinicians to effectively and efficiently address soft tissue lesions and fascial restrictions resulting in improved patient outcomes. GT uses specially designed stainless steel instruments with unique treatment edges and angles to deliver an effective means of manual therapy. The use of GT instruments, when combined with appropriate therapeutic exercise, leads to the restoration of pain-free movement and function. The instruments also are used diagnostically to assess the kinetic chain, in an efficient manner using the principles of regional interdependence. I have attached a picture of the tools for you to use at the icon for that paragraph

Spinal Decompression

Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression (NSSD): is a revolutionary new technology used primarily to treat disc injuries in the neck and in the low back. This treatment option is very safe and utilizes FDA cleared equipment to apply distraction forces to spinal structures in a precise and graduated manner. Distraction is offset by cycles of partial relaxation. This technique of *spinal decompression therapy*, that is, unloading due to distraction and positioning, has shown the ability to gently separate the vertebrae from each other, creating a vacuum inside the discs that we are targeting. This "vacuum effect" is also known as negative intra-discal pressure.

Orthopedic Massage

Orthopedic Massage: involves therapeutic assessment, manipulation and movement of locomotor soft tissue to reduce pain and dysfunction. Restoring structural balance throughout the body allows us to focus on both prevention and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal dysfunctions.

Physiotherapy

Electrical Muscle Stimulation: is used at Linn City Chiropractic by placing pads on or around the injured area and/or muscle, these pads send electrical pulses into the area. This type of chiropractic physiotherapy is beneficial for reducing pain, increasing blood flow into the injured area, and increasing healing.

Ultrasound therapy

Ultrasound therapy is used to minimize muscle pain and movement dysfunction. Therapeutic ultrasound uses sound waves to deliver deep heat to the treated tissues. The treatments may help reduce stiffness, swelling, and pain, increase circulation, and promote pain-free movement. Ultrasound therapy may be used alone or in conjunction with stretching, therapeutic massage, heat, or gentle chiropractic manipulation. Ultrasound therapy is a painless procedure, and many people find it relaxing.
